Bald and Free Day – we missed it!

I’m sorry but we failed to celebrate bald guy’s day last year but if you were to ask me, there is always a reason to celebrate the day. And right now, everyone seems to be celebrating something – after all, we have a few holidays packed in tightly together.

So imagine my surprise when I discovered (in the midst of all these celebrations) that I missed National Bald and Free Day. No joke, the United States has nationally recognized

those of us with male pattern baldness. It’s seems to be celebrated on either October 7th or 14th (I guess bald guys don’t care) but since I missed it this year, let’s take a minute to celebrate baldness anyway.

Here are all the reasons to love being bald:

Save money – on haircuts, shampoos and conditioners. The same soap that cleans the rest of your body can now clean your head. All you need is a quick scrub, scrub and you’re ready to go.

Become a stronger person – not everybody can deal with the pressures of male pattern baldness. It is tough. You feel incredibly self-conscious and worry about what the ladies or friends who haven’t seen you in a while are going to think. But hey, celebrate the strength of character you’re building over it.

Stop worrying – celebrate the freedom! Since you are already bald (or in the process) you don’t have to worry that one day you will be bald. You’re there already. You can’t fear the worst when it has come and gone.

Be judged on your personality – although I have no doubt that you are still a great looking guy, your thick head of hair is no longer what’s attracting the ladies. Now they flock to you because of your great personality, your killer smile and, for some, the smooth head.  But at least you know the attention you’re getting is genuine.

Pull off a new image – bald men are generally pegged with two stereotypes. One, you’re the George Costanza (Seinfeld) – annoying bald friend that people worry about inviting to parties. But the other stereotype is one we happen to love. It’s the tough guy image – thanks to Bruce Willis, Vin Diesel and a few other bald celebrities. Is there anything better than looking like you can make it through all hell breaking loose and still sweep your woman off her feet?

No fuss – being a man has always been awesome. We can wear the same clothes two or more days in a row. We have a short morning routine, don’t wear make up or shave below the neck. The bathroom, inside or out, is a easy to use. And for those of us who are bald or balding, now we don’t have to worry about going grey or the time it takes to get your hair perfect, in a pinch I sometimes even cut my own (remaining) hair. Just get up, get dressed and go, that’s how easy it is to be a bald man.

So, we only get one day a year that is officially ours. But isn’t every day kind of bald guy day? Aren’t you glad every day that you’re not alone in the struggle of thinning hair or baldness? And isn’t that something to celebrate!

Enjoy it men and come next October, we’ll make our celebration official.

Look Good, Feel Great!
