Our “No Excuse” Policy for Women With Thinning Hair

As we mentioned in our last post, only women who have thinning hair will ever truly understand how you feel. But one of the things I’ve come to realize is that all of us have our challenges. Even those who have thick, full hair.

This post is going to jump around a little bit. But before I get to the point, I want to tell you about a friend of mine. He’s 32 years-old and ten years ago he was in a diving accident that left him paralyzed. In the last ten years, this man finished school, got a great job, married a very nice woman, and is now expecting his first child.

Another man, who experienced the same situation, has been under 24-hour care from an in-home care facility. Sometimes he watches t.v., sometimes he plays on his computer, but rarely does he get out. And friends and family describe him as a changed man.

Now, why in the world would I share a story that has nothing whatsoever to do with you?

Well, when you read a story like this, you naturally want to shake the second man and tell him he can have a life like the first. So, here’s the connection…

I have seen way too many women who have used their thinning hair as a crutch. You are beautiful! And you can have the life that you want. But you have to make the effort to live it. That’s why I hope you’ll implement a “no excuse” policy in your life.

Here are some things you can do to make the most of who and what you are:

Dress like you mean it – a great outfit can completely change the way you feel about yourself. Accentuate your best features and appreciate what clothes can do for your appearance.

Wear makeup – remember when Natalie Portman and Demi Moore shaved their heads for movie roles? They still looked beautiful. Hair is kind of superficial. A beautiful face is something worth appreciating.

Smile often – cheesy as it may sound, your inner beauty shines when you smile. It’s much more difficult to believe someone is beautiful when they are sullen or mopey. A smile always improves your features.

If it bothers you, do something about it – there are solutions. No, there isn’t a cure for what you’re going through. But you can wear wigs, style your hair a certain way, and definitely try Volluma.

Most of all, remember why you’re amazing. Women who have scars, burns, birthmarks, weight issues, and disabilities are doing what they can to lead full lives. Don’t give yourself an excuse to give up. Hair is such a tiny part of who you are.

Give up the excuses and be the best you!
